This year’s celebration marked a historic milestone as Chi Mino Ozhitoowin proudly presented each of our seven partner communities with a contribution of $500,000—funds generated through our collective efforts, partnerships, and continued commitment to creating opportunities that uplift First Nation people. These contributions reflect ongoing work in training, employment, business development, and revenue-generation initiatives that support long-term safety, success, and prosperity for our Nations. It was a powerful moment of pride and forward momentum shared directly with the communities who continue to walk alongside us in this work.
Representatives in attendance included Delegate Lloyd Napash on behalf of Chief Bernadette Wabange (Eagle Lake First Nation); Chief Michele Solomon (Fort William First Nation); Chief Terry Allen (Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation); Chief Carrie Atatise-Norwegian (Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation); Chief John Machimity and Betty Necan (Ojibway Nation of Saugeen); and Chief Shane Whitecrow (Seine River First Nation). Chief Clifford Bull (Lac Seul First Nation) sent his regrets. Each Nation continues to shape our direction, strengthen our partnerships, and guide the ongoing growth of Chi Mino Ozhitoowin.
We were also honoured to welcome members of our Board of Directors, whose leadership and support remain essential throughout the year: Billy Whitecrow (Seine River First Nation), Garry Windigo (Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation), Kyle MacLaurin (Fort William First Nation), Kenneth Rogers (Ojibway Nation of Saugeen), and Robert Atatise (Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation). Sending regrets were Jamie Gardner (Eagle Lake First Nation) and Stan Littledeer (Lac Seul First Nation). Their direction and commitment continue to shape every success we celebrate.
Our staff team remains at the heart of Chi Mino Ozhitoowin, and the evening also served to recognize their dedication. Through training programs, employment pathways, business opportunities, community engagement, communications, and partnership development, our team works every day to strengthen relationships, uplift communities, and create lasting change for individuals, families, and Nations. Their work is the steady force behind all the progress made this year.
The celebration was brought to life by several special guests and talented contributors. We extend appreciation to our supporting partners in attendance: GLP Ltd. representatives Patrick Boileau and Erin Scott, and Hydro One, represented by Landyn Atooklan on behalf of Stephanie Ash from Firedog Communications. The evening’s entertainment and atmosphere were elevated by Moccasin Joe – Leonard Dick and Ann Dick for their cultural presence; DJ Harley Music & Lighting – Harley Legarde-Beacham and Greg West – for providing top-tier music, lighting, and energy; Chondon Photography – Patrick Chondon (Cho-den) – for capturing the night through his lens; and Linda Acheampong (Lac Seul First Nation), whose handcrafted Christmas bulbs added beauty and warmth to the event décor. Their contributions helped create an evening full of laughter, memories, and community spirit.
As the year draws to a close, the Christmas Party was a reminder of what is possible when communities, leadership, and partnerships come together with shared purpose. We extend our deepest gratitude to our partner Nations, our Board, our industry partners, and all those who continue to support the work of Chi Mino Ozhitoowin. We remain committed to building opportunities, strengthening relationships, and supporting long-term community prosperity across the region.
Miigwech, and Merry Christmas to all. We invite everyone to enjoy the photos, stories, and moments captured throughout this special evening.
