    Valard's Transmission Operations group is looking to add a Human Resources Coordinator in a fixed-term role from August 2026 to July 2027, based near Thunder Bay, ON. This is a site-based position on a 5 days on / 2 days off rotational schedule. Acting as the primary on-site HR contact, the role serves as a bridge between site leadership and the central HR team, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, employment legislation, and Valard's standards. Duties and Responsibilities: - Attend career fairs and present employment opportunities to Indigenous communities. - Prepare and send union dispatch requests. - Coordinate site-level onboarding for craft, hourly, and salaried personnel. - Coordinate demobilization and offboarding for departing personnel. - Ensure data integrity and timely entry of changes. - Identify and resolve timekeeping discrepancies; respond to pay-related questions. - Provide front-line support to employees and supervisors on HR policies, benefits, and procedures. - Escalate employee relations matters to the Sr. HR Business Partner in a timely and confidential manner. - Support workplace investigations and corrective-action processes. - Promote a respectful, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture. - Support compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment legislation. Requirements: - 3–5 years of experience in a similar role. - Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Preferred Skills/Qualifications: - Working knowledge of core HR functions (onboarding, record administration, recruitment, employee relations). - Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and standards. - Understanding of construction, electrical, or utility site operations. - Knowledge of collective agreement provisions and unionized site requirements. - Familiarity with HRIS platforms. Base hourly rate: $34.09 – $43.42 depending on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package included.

The company provides industrial yard services including heavy equipment operations, maintenance and general labour across four contracts/operations in Northwestern Ontario. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor, the mechanic will be responsible for providing mechanical services by maintaining and/or repairing all pieces of equipment including but not limited to front-end loaders, dump trucks, tractor trailers, forklifts and log loaders. Duties include scheduling regular maintenance on each piece of equipment, troubleshooting problems and coordinating repairs or replacement of non-working parts. Salary (per hour): - New Apprentice: $31.76 – $32.00 - Apprentice 1 (Complete Basic or Power Automotive Techniques Course): $36.00 – $36.26 - Apprentice 2 (Completed Intermediate): $38.11 – $38.39 - Apprentice 3 (Completed Advanced): $40.23 – $40.53 - Licensed Mechanic: $42.35 – $42.66 Annual increases apply. Schedule: 40–48 hours per week. Benefits include fully covered medical, dental, disability and life insurance, and a defined contribution pension plan. Tax-exempt pay available for employees with First Nation status where work is performed on First Nation land. Ideal candidate will have previous working experience with heavy equipment, trucks and tractor trailers, one year of post-secondary education in a related field, ability to meet physical demands of the position, and a valid driver's licence.
